With Kyrie Irving’s availability once again in doubt, multiple teams across the NBA find themselves considering making a run for the 8x All-Star.

On one hand, his game and talent are unmatched in the NBA and he’s been fantastic on the court for the Nets this season. On the other hand, he’s hard to control and completely untrustworthy — which makes it hard for any team to agree to a long-term deal.

On Sirius XM Radio this weekend, NBA radio host Mike Francesa blasted Irving and issued a warning to any teams considering trading for the 11-year veteran.

“Why would anybody want him? I have been anti-Kyrie for so long that I don’t even bother anymore. This guy is only out for one thing: himself. He is a killer of franchises Anybody who would take a chance on him is out of their mind. Yes it’s a contract ploy, he’s insulted, but the bottom line is I just don’t know how he always finds somebody to play his game. The amazing thing is, because you have talent, people will always take a chance on you even if you have proven you are going to destroy your franchise. These guys have destroyed the Brooklyn franchise.”

This trade request is just the latest in a long line of self-inflicted ordeals for Kyrie Irving. And while this certainly isn’t the worst thing he’s done on this team, it’s the final straw for many fans and analysts, who have had enough of his antics and his consistently chaotic behavior.

The Future Is Once Again Uncertain For Kyrie And The Nets

Despite looking like one of the best teams in the East a few weeks ago, the Nets are on the verge of a total collapse that could see all of their ‘big three’ in different jerseys by the end of next week.

As for Irving, it remains to be seen which teams, if any, will be willing to give him the kind of contract he apparently desires.

“Idiotic, here’s a guy in Kyrie Irving that for the last three years, he’s gotten most of his money but missed more than 50% of his games. (He) now enters the last year after this offseason… Obviously, the situation that he got himself into early in this year was unfortunate, but he resurrected himself from that, playing outstanding basketball and reminding everybody what an absolute, flat-out superstar basketball player he is,” said Stephen A. Smith.

Kyrie is playing hardball with the Nets and it will be interesting to see how it works out for him. So far, it hasn’t resulted in anything but chaos and a damaged reputation.

Of course, Kevin Durant is the main focus for much of the NBA world right now, and his feelings in all of this may be the most important aspect of everything regarding this turn of events in Brooklyn.
