The University of Georgia player is projected as a top 3 pick in the upcoming NBA draft and in the case he gets the first pick of the night, over the last nine seasons, the number one pick’s first name has been Anthony 38.8% of the time. If you take a look at the last 10 years, you have seen some Anthony’s getting selected with the first overall pick.
Anthony Davis was drafted by the then New Orleans Hornets in 2012. The next year, the Cleveland Cavaliers would pick Anthony Bennett out of UNLV. Two years later, in 2015, the Minnesota Timberwolves picked Karl-Anthony Towns out of Kentucky. That is the last case of one Anthony being selected first overall pick in the draft but there is a big chance that Anthony Edwards signs his name on the list in October.
Out of these players, Bennett has been the only one with a mediocre career in the NBA. Hopefully, Edwards follows the path of Davis and Towns. The Minnesota Timberwolves won the lottery and they will have the chance to land Edwards, one of the best prospects of his class.
