Ja Morant’s latest incident that put him in the bad press has also seen earn the wrath of NBA superstars’ agents lambasting him for spoiling the players’ images.

Per ESPNs Tim MacMahon on the Basketball Illuminati podcast: “I’m curious what stance [the players association] might take, I’ve talked to agents of other superstar players and they’re pissed off too. Because this is not just a bad look for Ja Morant. This is not just a bad look for the Memphis Grizzlies. This reflects poorly on the entire league.”

He further added: “I’m talking to an agent of another superstar and he’s like, ‘Man, this really taints the image of the whole league. I’ve got my clients who are doing everything right, who are never sniffing any kind of trouble. Positive members of their community. So on and so forth, but then the perception is going to be, ‘Look at this fool who thinks playing with guns on Instagram Live is cool.”

“So the players’ association thing will be interesting because it’s not just the league office, it’s not just the Memphis Grizzlies. Other teams are livid about this and other agents are livid about this because they feel it reflects poorly on everybody.”

Morant courted trouble when he flashed a gun for the second time on Instagram Live. At the time of writing, he has been suspended by the Grizzlies, while a hefty fine and a long suspension are looked at as the possible outcomes after the league investigation.

Focusing on MacMahon’s comments, it does seem reasonable that the agents feel the way they do, as the larger opinion on the players would be that they would all pull off unwarranted actions, such as Ja’s thinking it would be pretty cool.

Charles Barkley Slams Ja Morant For His Latest Piece Of Trouble

Like the agents, not all were okay with Ja’s latest bit of furor, and one of them was NBA player/analyst Charles Barkley.

“When you’re making $100 million to play sports, your life changes. There are certain rules and regulations you have to live by. You can’t do stupid stuff, that’s the trade-off. If you wanna do all that stuff and give that money back, more power to you. You can make that stance. But you can’t make money in the NBA doing this stuff.

I hope he grows up and realizes this. You’re not a criminal, you’re not a crook. You’re a guy making $200 million to dribble a stupid basketball.”

While Ja has issued an apology, it’s pretty much garnered negative buzz on social media from fans as well. And it’s unlikely that the heat will cool off in the days to come.
