Ja Morant And Zion Williamson Could Benefit From Mark Jackson’s Guidance, Says Anonymous GM

“If he was on the bench in Memphis or New Orleans, he’d be perfect for Ja Morant or Zion Williamson," the GM said.

An anonymous GM in the NBA believes the likes of Ja Morant and Zion Williamson could greatly benefit from having someone as influential as Mark Jackson by their side.

According to Casino’s Marc Berman, “He needs to be open to be an associate head coach,” the GM said. “If he was on the bench in Memphis or New Orleans, he’d be perfect for Ja Morant or Zion Williamson. Someone who has that experience would be great for them, to have an example like that.”

Those who know Jackson know that he indeed built the Golden State Warriors. His stint ended after the Warriors lost in the first round of the 2014 playoffs against the LA Clippers. However, it’s more than the 121-108 record, it’s the foundation he laid.

Likewise, Jackson could be the perfect person under the likes of Ja and Zion — both of whom have courted controversy in recent times, despite being labeled as the league’s future.

While Ja’s second gun incident after a series of controversies puts him in the league’s firing zone, Zion’s alleged tryst with a pornstar that went murky saw him in hot soup earlier this month. Jackson has been known to be a great influence on the players in the league, and maybe he can indeed help Ja or Zion turn their lives around.

Isiah Thomas Credits Mark Jackson For Changing Basketball With Stephen Curry And Klay Thompson

In his recent appearance on ‘All The Smoke’, former NBA champion Isiah Thomas credited Mark Jackson for bringing in an evolution of the sport with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson when he helmed Golden State.

“The guy who doesn’t get credit for changing the game in this so-called evolution of the game, his name would be coach Mark Jackson,” Thomas said. “Now let me tell you why Mark Jackson changed the game. Because Mark Jackson saw a guy by the name of Steph Curry and a guy by the name of Klay Thompson, and Mark Jackson as a coach, he made it acceptable for Steph Curry and Klay to shoot from that range.

“Mark Jackson alone accepted it, and when he accepted, that changed the game. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson would not be Steph Curry and Klay Thompson getting credit for the evolution if there wasn’t a teacher and a master saying you can do that.”

Clearly, there’s more than just coaching ability that Jackson brings in, and only time will tell if he indeed gets another shot as a coach in the NBA.
