Grizzlies star Ja Morant is seeking revenge on the teenager whose unproven allegations may jeopardize his ability to earn a supermax contract this summer.

According to the teen, Morant assaulted him in an altercation that was later reported to officers, and it went viral shortly after Ja endured the fallout from flashing a gun on Instagram Live. Now, the Grizzlies star is seeking compensation for those allegations, which may hold him back from making an All-NBA roster this season.

“Getting hit in the face with a basketball hurts; for a professional point guard like Mr. Morant, an injury to the eyes or nose could be career ending… Before Counter-Defendant lied and before he or someone else leaked his lies to the media, Mr. Morant was a strong prospect for one of six All-NBA guard spots. That selection would be personally significant for Morant because it would trigger a ‘super max’ clause in his contract extension worth millions of dollars.”

Morant is still in hot water over a number of scandals involving threats or acts of aggression towards an opposing party. The allegations include aiming a laser pointer toward opponents, threatening a mall security guard, and even being a gang member.

Whether these reports are true or not, they’ve severely damaged Ja’s reputation across the league, and it makes sense that he’d want to set the record straight once and for all.

Morant Vows To Spread The Truth About Troubling Allegations

On the court, Morant’s value cannot be argued. Through 61 games this season, he averaged 26.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game on 46% shooting.

But the question for him and the Grizzlies entering this postseason is whether or not he can avoid trouble behind the scenes and recover his reputation as a leader.

“I said I had a role, but I didn’t say anything about doing anything wrong, still,” Morant said, via The New York Times. “So all those cases is sealed, so I can’t speak on those cases. When I have my time to, everybody will know the actual truth in every incident that I’ve been in.”

So, it seems like Ja is determined for people took to know the truth of these matters. Until then, however, his focus will be on beating the team in front of him and making amends for his previous mistakes.
