The newer generation of NBA stars is quite adept at using social media, and a lot of them are often tweeting throughout the season. Ja Morant is no exception, and his quick fingers have seen him send out several tweets, some quite cryptic, throughout the series against the Golden State Warriors.

While there’s something wonderful about fans being able to communicate directly with their favorite NBA stars, it has caused a few issues as well. The anonymity of social media gives some people the ability to say some mean and disrespectful things to players, and while most don’t engage, Ja isn’t afraid to give it back to fans when he feels like they’ve crossed a line.

The latest situation stemmed from Ja responding to Jonathan Kuminga’s tweet poking fun at the Memphis Grizzlies after they lost their series against the Golden State Warriors.

gotta earn some stripes first kid 😂😂 https://t.co/BWHvh0QqYW

Jonathan Kuminga: “Whoop that …….”

Ja Morant: “Gotta earn some stripes first kid.”

Considering that Kuminga is a rookie and Ja has ascended to superstar status this season, his response is to be expected. But some fans didn’t like it, with one, in particular, taking shots at Ja about a girl that he implied Morant is seeing. Morant responded to him after his disrespectful tweet, with the fan then going on to suggest that Ja was p***y whipped, which resulted in Ja’s tweet that has since been deleted.

Ja

Hesus_de: “My bad I didn’t know you were p**** whipped.”

Ja Morant: “It’s free to see how hollows feel.”

Obviously, engaging with fans like this is not a good look for Morant. He’s already come under fire from some people for tweeting overmuch. The young superstar should feel free to speak his mind, of course, but a mud-slinging contest like this isn’t the ideal scenario for his image, which possibly explains why the tweet was deleted.
