Ja Morant made his long-awaited return to the court after he came off the bench for the Memphis Grizzlies in their win against the Houston Rockets. Morant scored 17 points in 23 minutes of action.
Ja’s father, Tee Morant, was in attendance, as usual, to watch his son return to the court after a controversial few weeks. He was wearing a custom t-shirt that read ‘Redemption.’

Morant is on the road to redeeming himself, but his on-court play won’t necessarily cause that redemption. Nobody doubted his skills on the court but doubt his maturity off the court.
Even Tee Morant has come under excessive criticism for not being able to guide Ja on the right path. The negative experience of being vilified by the media on a day-to-day basis may be all the motivation Morant needs to ensure he doesn’t make mistakes like showing off a gun on IG Live again.
Memphis Grizzlies Returning To Contention?
The Grizzlies haven’t been looked at as serious championship threats all season long. Many attribute that to the team still being young, but the Western Conference has definitely given them an opening to try and contend. They are looking to lock up the 2nd seed in the Conference, virtually guaranteeing home-court advantage unless they meet the Denver Nuggets in the Conference Finals.
If Morant is back and playing motivated basketball, the Grizzlies could be the ones emerging out of the West. The team is very well-rounded and gets along really well. It’s time for them to push through a relatively open West and see if they can be the ones to emerge into the NBA Finals. It’s not out of the realm of possibility, but it will be a challenge for a team that’s gone through off-court controversies this season.
