The Los Angeles Lakers are making a move fans have campaigned for a while, as Austin Reaves will be moving into the starting lineup.

It was announced prior to the Lakers’ game against the Phoenix Suns that Reaves would be starting ahead of Malik Beasley, causing fans of the team to rejoice.

One fan joked, “INDUSTRY PLANT.”

Another fan praised him, “Well deserved!!”

A Suns fan thinks it’s gonna be a long night for Reaves, “Josh Okogie is locking him up.”

One fan thinks Devin Booker will torch Reaves, “Booker 50 ball confirmed.”

Another fan was shocked that Darvin Ham actually did something positive, “Ham actually took out struggling Beasley and put in our best player as a starter instead?”

Another fan was concerned about bench production without Reaves, “They really took Beas out. Wild. I wonder what will happen to the bench points.”

Reaves is coming off a career-high 35-point performance against the Orlando Magic, where he led the Lakers to a much-needed win. In a matchup against the Suns, who are a far better team, the team will hope Reaves can carry over his recent production tonight. He is averaging 20.4 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.0 rebounds in his last 5 games.

Can The Lakers Pick Up A Season-Defining Win Against Phoenix?

The Lakers want to be in the Western Conference playoffs desperately. With the Dallas Mavericks losing to the Golden State Warriors and falling below .500, the Lakers will see an opportunity to push up the table once again. Beating the Suns won’t just be good for their record but it’ll be good for the larger mentality of the team. Even without Kevin Durant, the Suns have been holding their own and picking up wins.

The Lakers’ success tonight will be dependent on the form of Anthony Davis. With Deandre Ayton expected to be out for tonight, Davis can be a dominant inside presence and give the Lakers a pathway to winning. They have a good roster even with LeBron James out injured, and that roster will be looking to prove its mettle against the Suns tonight.n
