The past few weeks have been extremely tough for Ja Morant and, of course, his family. The Memphis Grizzlies superstar was bombarded with a plethora of controversies.
Morant also received an 8-game suspension from the league for his actions. The biggest controversy that Ja caused was brandishing a gun on his Instagram Live video. Ja’s father, Tee Morant, recently shared his thoughts on his son’s controversies with The Athletic.
“They were rough, bruh,” Tee Morant said of the last few days in his family. “Rough. Reading bad things about my son and (people) judging him off of things that he really doesn’t believe in. It’s so crazy that people love to throw the stone but wouldn’t want the stone thrown at their kid. I felt totally responsible. Ja’s gonna show the world who he is, and I’m excited about that.”
Tee, continued and took the entire blame for his son’s actions on himself.
“I blame myself,” he said. “I blame myself. Because that’s my son. When I say I will die for my kids, I will die for my kids. Now has the world thought about that or thought like that? Anything my kid does, I’m going to blame myself.”
Ja seemingly has a close bond with his father. Morant once revealed that it was his father who taught him how to handle haters. Being an NBA player is not easy, and there will always be haters out there, but the way a player can handle them can change their entire outlook towards it.
Ja Morant Finally Returned To Play Basketball
Ja Morant may have made the headlines in the past few weeks for all the wrong reasons, but underneath them, he is still one of the most enjoyable players to watch in the NBA.
Morant finally made a comeback to the Memphis Grizzlies roster during their Wednesday night matchup against the Houston Rockets.
It’s a chance for Morant to redeem himself, and his father conveyed that message by wearing a ‘redemption’ T-shirt during the game.
In his return, Morant recorded 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists in just 24 minutes of action. Morant’s numbers propelled the Grizzlies to a 130-125 win over the Rockets.
