The New York Knicks had a big chance to force Game 7 on Friday night, but the Miami Heat told otherwise, taking the win and the series after the 96-92 victory over the New Yorkers.
Brunson was on a solo mission against the Heat, and he showed that in crunch time when he had the chance to facilitate a shot for Josh Hart, but ignored the former Los Angeles Lakers player.
This is odd, considering that Hart is a very good friend of Brunson, and they even played together in college. Their friendship isn’t new, and one would expect Brunson to rely on one of his friends when the other two stars of the team don’t provide for the Knicks.
Nevertheless, that didn’t happen, and the Knicks missed a big chance to tie or win the game with a shot by Hart. Instead, he threw the ball away and ended the Knicks’ hopes of tying the series.
The Knicks landed in this series with big hopes, and Stephen A. Smith even claimed that Jimmy Butler couldn’t survive Madison Square Garden. Well, he did it in a great way and now is waiting for his next rival in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Jalen Brunson Played Alone Against The Miami Heat
As stated before, Brunson didn’t have the right help during the series. Outside Game 2, Julius Randle struggled a lot to find his rhythm on the court. He barely scored 15 points on Friday, a lot less compared to Brunson.
RJ Barrett only dropped 11 points, the same as Hart, who has other jobs on the court. Brunson finished the night with 41 points. This wasn’t enough to get past the Heat, but Brunson confirmed that he’s a star in this league.
Just like he warned Butler, Stephen A. Smith called out Randle and Barrett after their terrible performances. The analyst even asked for them to be traded, which could happen this offseason.
