James Harden Can Have The Greatest Offensive Season In NBA History After Wilt Chamberlain Era

2 Min Read

It’s easy to take for granted what James Harden is doing this season. In the middle of yet another MVP-like performance, the 7x All-Star is on track for a third-straight scoring title.

Averaging 38 points, 7.6 assists, and 6 rebounds, he is actually putting on one of the best offensive seasons ever.

Comparing this season to Jordan’s 86-87 season, the Beard is clearly doing something extraordinary. With shooting splits of 46-39-86 and a true-shooting percentage of 65, he is also posting all of these numbers with great efficiency.

Since moving to Houston in 2012, Harden has emerged as one of the best players in the NBA, averaging 29.6 points, 7.7 assists, and 6 rebounds per game.

These past three seasons, in particular, we have yet to see anything in recent league history that can match this performance.

The biggest knock on James hasn’t been on the offensive end. It’s been on defense, where the star guard has famously struggled to slow down his opponents in one-on-one situations. This limitation is, perhaps, the reason why he only has one MVP.

But make no mistake when it comes to the Beard. He is the best at what he does — a specialist of the highest order. And as he continues on a tear unmatched by anyone in the past 25+ years, we will continue to watch in awe.
