Many NBA players have a few signature items that they always tend to wear during games. For the Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown, it’s his protective black mask.

Over the last few months, Brown has always worn it during games, and it has become something that fans have gotten used to seeing. So when Brown took it off during Game 4 vs. the Atlanta Hawks, many were curious to know the reason behind it.

“I don’t know, maybe it was all in my head,” Brown said. “I just needed something different when I took it off. It just gave me the edge I needed.”

Brown told the reporters that as long as the Boston Celtics are winning games, he doesn’t care if he scores a ton or ends the night with a meager two points to his name.

The 26-year-old recorded 31 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Out of his total points tally, Brown scored 29 points without his signature mask as the Celtics registered a 129-121 win over the Hawks.

Considering the Celtics now hold a commanding 3-1 lead in the series, they will most likely advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Jaylen Brown Set The Record Straight About Leaving The Boston Celtics

Over the last few months, the topic of Jaylen Brown’s future with the Boston Celtics has been discussed a plethora of times.

Many believe that Brown is giving all signs that he wants out of Boston. But before the 2023 NBA playoffs began, Brown addressed those rumors.

“Nothing right now,” Brown said. “Right now, the only thing I want to clarify is that the Celtics need to play better and win more games. If I want to say something in the future about the kind of things that have been floating around, I will. But in terms of right now, I like when people hear things from the horse’s mouth, and you can see my reaction, my face, and everything how I feel about what I’m saying. Sometimes those things can get lost in translation, you know? So if I feel the need to do so, I will. I keep constant communication with my teammates and my organization, and we’ve gotta have everybody on board if we want to do what we say we want to do. So right now, I’m focused on that.”

As of now, Brown has no plans to leave the Celtics. After all, he is on the second-best team in the Eastern Conference and can potentially play in back-to-back NBA Finals.

However, if the Celtics get eliminated early in the playoffs, it could impact Brown’s decision to stay with the team for the long-term future.
