Jeff Teague’s reminiscence of facing the Golden State Warriors during their peak with Kevin Durant sheds light on just how formidable that team was. Teague, who played for the Indiana Pacers, vividly recalls the feeling of knowing that victory against the Warriors was a distant possibility.

“When you go to Golden State, you play at the Oracle, even the new Arena. You know you’re not about to win. No, for real bro, you be like alright we gotta keep it close ‘cuz if they go crazy in the first quarter, it’s over.”

“Fans gon’ start going crazy. They gon start running around on the bench, throwin’ towels, and s**t. “So the first quarter, we were down like 12, I was like, ‘This s***’s over.’ He started his s**t, ‘Oh it’s over’.”

“I seen them start throwin’ towels, Steph’s runnin’ down the sideline, I said ‘Oh, they clownin’ us’. I’m about to be on TV all night.”

“Then they throw a lob to KD, they tipped the ball, I run back to chase it down, Steph just threw it behind, you just see me in the camera like…You see it, bro, it was crazy. Their team was too good we used to be like ‘They cheating.'”

“When you go to [the Warriors], you play at the Oracle, even the new Arena. You know [you’re] not about to win… If they go crazy in the first quarter, it’s over.”

Teague’s remarks on his Club 520 podcast, where he hosted Draymond Green as a guest, provide insight into the mindset of opponents facing the Warriors. He describes the sense of resignation that crept in when teams realized they were up against a juggernaut capable of running away with the game in the blink of an eye.

The Warriors’ blistering start to the game, coupled with their star-studded lineup featuring Durant, Stephen Curry, and Klay Thompson, instilled fear in opponents. Teague recalls the electric atmosphere at Oracle Arena, where even a small Warriors lead in the first quarter felt insurmountable.

The Warriors‘ dominance during the 2016-2017 season, with a staggering 67 regular-season wins and a near-flawless playoff run culminating in an NBA championship, solidified their status as one of the greatest teams in NBA history. Teague’s recollection offers a glimpse into the awe and respect that the Warriors commanded during their peak, leaving an indelible mark on opponents and spectators alike.

That Warriors Superteam Is Arguably The Greatest Team Of All-Time

The Golden State Warriors’ superteam, featuring the dynamic trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant, undoubtedly stands among the greatest teams in NBA history. In fact, it’s arguable that they could outshine even iconic teams like the 1996 Bulls or the 1980s Lakers.

What made this Warriors team truly exceptional was their unparalleled offensive firepower. Defending against Curry’s lethal shooting, Thompson’s sharpshooting prowess, and Durant’s unstoppable scoring ability was an insurmountable challenge for any opponent. Together, they formed an offensive juggernaut that could dismantle defenses with ease.

One of the most remarkable aspects of this Warriors team was their ability to erase deficits in the blink of an eye. Even when trailing by significant margins, they had the capability to stage rapid comebacks, turning a six to eight-point deficit into a lead within minutes. Their offensive explosiveness was unmatched, and they had a knack for demoralizing opponents with their quick-strike-scoring barrages.

Moreover, attempting a comeback against the Warriors was a perilous endeavor. Just when opponents thought they had a chance to close the gap, Golden State would unleash a devastating offensive onslaught, swiftly extending their lead and putting the game out of reach in a matter of minutes.

In essence, the Warriors’ superteam was akin to a cheat code in basketball. Their combination of offensive talent, precision shooting, and strategic brilliance made them virtually unstoppable on the court. Whether facing legendary teams from the past or contemporary rivals, the dominance of the Warriors during their peak is a testament to their status as one of the greatest teams of all time in NBA history.
