It seems like an age ago, but it was just three years back that the NBA went into the Bubble to wrap up the 2019-20 season.

Jimmy Butler put on a show in the Bubble as he led the Miami Heat to the NBA Finals, but he doesn’t seem to be in any mood to talk about it now.

“I ain’t talking about the bubble. I don’t even know what happened in the bubble,” Butler told reporters.

Butler averaged 22.2 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 6.0 APG, and 2.0 APG during those playoffs but it was the Finals where he really took his game to another level. He put up 26.2 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 9.8 APG, and 2.2 SPG and was the only reason why the series was remotely competitive, as the undermanned Heat lost in six games to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

It was the first we really saw of ‘Playoff Jimmy’ but Butler isn’t interested in reminiscing at the moment. There’s a job to do right now and that is to get past the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Jimmy Butler Spoke On The Series Against The Knicks

One of the biggest sub-plots of this series is Butler facing his former head coach Tom Thibodeau. Thibodeau coached Butler when he was with the Chicago Bulls and the Minnesota Timberwolves and there are few who know him better than the Knicks head coach. Butler is already tired of that storyline, however, stating that it is a series between the Heat and the Knicks and he’s not going to allow it to be a Thibs vs. himself thing.

It is going to take all the knowledge Thibodeau has about his former player to stop him, as Butler was on an absolute roll against the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round. He averaged 37.6 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 4.8 APG, and 1.8 SPG to single-handedly knock off the top-seeded Bucks in five games. Knicks fan Stephen A. Smith is picking his team to win but warned them that they have to find a way to stop Butler. That is a lot easier said than done, as the Bucks found out.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
