Deandre Ayton has had a solid NBA career so far but it’s fair to say the former No. 1 overall pick hasn’t quite lived up to expectations.
In Game 1 of the series between the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets, fans noticed the big man’s complete lack of effort during one play and blasted him for it.
Ayton is the reason why the Suns are losing as per a fan.

A fan pointed to how Kevin Durant was fighting for the rebound while Ayton just stood around.

If the Suns lose this series, then this fan believes they should part ways with Ayton.
If they lose the series he may be done in Phoenix, and honestly the Suns should of done the Turner trade

A fan says Ayton is showing why head coach Monty Williams had issues with him last year.

The title of the most overpaid player belongs to either Ayton or Jordan Poole a fan claimed.

While there is no shame in being outplayed by Nikola Jokic, it is the lack of effort that can be so frustrating regarding Ayton. Jokic dominated on the glass in the first half as he repeatedly earned second-chance points while Ayton had only three rebounds at halftime. He finished the game with just 7 rebounds while Jokic had 19. If he can’t match Jokic’s energy on the boards, then the Suns are in deep trouble in this series.
Ayton’s nickname is ‘Dominayton’ and he brought it up when discussing his impact in the series against the Los Angeles Clippers. He certainly isn’t playing like a dominant big man here and the Suns are getting blown out because of it.
The Suns Have Had No Answer For Jamal Murray
Another big reason why the Suns are losing here is that they have had no answer for Jamal Murray who has a game-high 34 points. The Nuggets guard has won the matchup with Devin Booker in Game 1 and if that continues to be the theme for the rest of the series, then Denver might wrap things up in a hurry.
Jokic had claimed recently that Murray is playing better now than he did back in the Bubble and this performance in Game 1 shows he might well be. The Nuggets have made quite a statement to start off this series and it’ll be interesting to see how the Suns respond in Game 2.
