Prior to this season, James Harden has primarily been known as an elite scorer. His scoring in isolation on the Houston Rockets was well-known throughout the league, and a lot of people ignored some of the other areas that made James Harden elite.
On the Brooklyn Nets, James Harden has had the ability to show off his playmaking ability next to two sensational scorers in Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. He currently leads the league in assists per game and has had some elite passing showcases throughout the season. One of the underrated aspects of Harden’s passing is that it allows the non-superstar players on the roster to get involved in the offense. Recently, Joe Harris has commented on Harden’s passing and stated that Harden is the best passer that he has played with.

Joe Harris is one of the best pure shooters that James Harden has got an opportunity to play with. James Harden is able to find his open shooters, and leverage his scoring to create easy buckets for his teammates. James Harden was used in a different role on the Houston Rockets, but perhaps more of a point guard role suits him better. Joe Harris seems like a natural fit with Harden, due to his ability to get open off the ball.
James Harden is a multifaceted player who can fit into any role on the court. There have been a lot of narratives about his iso scoring, and about how he shot a lot of shots in Houston. But he is proving all his haters wrong: the Brooklyn Nets have maximized Harden’s passing, and have made him into a bonafide MVP candidate.
