On the night of his return from injury, Joel Embiid has revealed the finalization of his deal with Sketchers. According to Shams Charania, the 76ers star is set to become the face of the company’s basketball division.
“76ers star Joel Embiid has signed a multiyear endorsement contract with Skechers to become the face of the company’s basketball division, “ wrote Shams. “Embiid is back in action after two months and now officially has a new shoe deal.”
Embiid, a 7x All-Star, first unveiled the details of his budding relationship with Sketchers back in October. After years of going unsigned, he moved toward joining the brand as they revamped their basketball division. Now, Embiid has officially joined the brand as a leading face in a growing lineup that includes Julius Randle and Terance Mann. To celebrate, he even donned a pair of his new kicks on the court for his first game back.
The sneakers feature a slick design — white on the top with a streak of pink on the sides. With the black laces and signature “S” logo, fans were pretty pleased with the design, and they appear to provide good support for Embiid’s ankles and feet.

The financials of Embiid’s new shoe deal have yet to be revealed, but one can imagine it must be a hefty sum for him to forgo the other sneaker giants like Nike and Adidas. But now, he’ll have a chance to create something brand new right on the cusp of a potential deep playoff run.
Joel Embiid Returns From Long Absence
At one point this season, Joel Embiid was leading the MVP race with some of the most impressive scoring numbers we’ve ever seen. In 34 games, he averaged 35.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game on 53% shooting. The 76ers were top three in the Conference. But when he went down with a left meniscus injury in late January, his MVP campaign collapsed, and so did the 76ers.
Joel was shut down for the season, and frustration was at an all-time high after what felt like years of bad injury luck. Consequently, without their superstar, Philadelphia had a free fall down the standings, and they came into Tuesday’s game at 8th in the standings.
But with Embiid back and ready to play for the final stretch of the season, the 76ers are shaping up to be a scary first-round opponent. Assuming they advance past the play-in tournament, a healthy 76ers team could pose a serious challenge to the Celtics and Bucks, who currently lead the East standings.
Besides Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris are both capable of going off with plenty of support off the bench with veterans like Nic Batum and Buddy Hield. While it may take some time for Embiid to get into peak form, his return makes things considerably more interesting in the East, and it could set up a wild upset in the early rounds. Either way, it couldn’t come at a better time for Embiid, who is looking for any way to expand his empire both on and off the court.
