The NBA All-Star event is one of the most awaited times of the year. It has various amazing events apart from the main game. By the way, the starters for the 2022 ASG have been announced, and it has received mixed feedback from the fans.

Anyway, speaking of the other things at the All-Star event, NBA’s Dunk Contest is arguably one of the most popular events among the fans. After all, who doesn’t love to see talented NBA players perform high-flying dunks, right? While the overall quality of the Dunk Contest has depleted nowadays, there are still a few bright things about it.

Moreover, potential candidates like Atlanta Hawks’ John Collins make it worth a while for the audience. Unfortunately, it seems like he might not be attending this year’s Dunk Contest.

In a recent interview, he joked about skipping the event for the sole reason that the event is being hosted in Cleveland. It seems like he is not a fan of the place.

“It’s in Cleveland this year? Um, I don’t know man. Um, you gotta check back to me on that. Maybe? We’ll see. (laughs).”

In case, the Hawks forward decides to make an appearance in the Dunk Contest, he should be prepared for some boos.

Although he was just joking about not attending the event, Cleveland fans will take it to the heart. This is only the third time in NBA history that the All-Star event is being held in the city of Cleveland and the fans there will sure as heck won’t like such comments about it.

On top of that, it is a special year for the league as it is the 75th NBA Anniversary. It is a great honor for Cleveland natives and they will hope for it to be a memorable All-Star event.
