When Andrew Wiggins came to the league, he was expected to become one of the biggest stars in the NBA in coming years. Unfortunately, that wasn’t something that fate had in store for Wiggins. He was unable to remain consistent during his stint with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

This led to the Timberwolves trading Wiggins to the Golden State Warriors midway through the 2019-20 NBA season. That decision turned out Wiggins’ career as he has played incredibly well in a Warriors jersey.

So much so that the 26-year-old even made it to the 2022 NBA All-Star game as a starter. While it was amazing to see Andrew get the recognition he deserves for his performances this season, it also meant that his former teammate Karl-Anthony Towns missed out on the starter spot.

One might think that there might be a bit of bad blood between the two considering there were rumors about a beef brewing between the two stars when they played together. Well, that isn’t the case as KAT had nothing but praise for his former teammate upon hearing that he made it to the All-Star game.

Via NBC Sports:

“I think that is beautiful. I told him on the court, I think everyone saw it, I was extremely happy for him to be named an All-Star. I told him that his day was coming. Even the last time we played the Warriors I said ‘I can’t wait to see you as an All-Star, I can’t wait to see you in Cleveland.’ It’s funny how the story comes full-circle, just telling him that I think he was going to make it. My vote was for him.

Towns added, “I just want to see my teammates be great. If I’ve shown anything in my career it’s that I’m able to put my pride to the side in the betterment of others. I love that my teammates — regardless of whether they’re former or current — are doing well. It’s a bond you build, we went to wars together out there, we prepared for these games. There’s a lot of blood, sweat and tears for each other and I just want him to see the fruits of his labor and I’m glad that he’s able to see that today.”

It is great to see two former teammates still respecting each other even after parting ways. In about two weeks fans will finally be able to see Andrew Wiggins wearing the prosperous NBA All-Star uniform.

He will be playing alongside his superstar teammate Stephen Curry, who had one of the highest number of votes received from fans. Will fans see anything special from the duo of Wiggins and Curry? We will find out soon.
