Kendrick Perkins Can’t Believe Kyrie Irving Was Elected As NBPA VP: “It’s The Blind Leading The Blind.”

2 Min Read

Kyrie Irving was recently elected as Vice President of the NBA Players Association. As an advocate for player empowerment and someone who isn’t afraid to say what he’s feeling, it’s no surprise that he would take a leadership position in the league’s official voice for players.

And while most have no objections to his new position, former NBA big man Kendrick Perkins seems almost disgusted by Kyrie’s new role.

(per ESPN’s The Jump)

“I’m so glad I’m out of the league, that’s all I’ve got to say … Because I’m telling you, it’s the blind leading the blind.”

Irving has done some questionable things in the past, including calling out and throwing his young teammates under the bus, hinting that the earth was flat, and posting cryptic messages on social media challenging authority and the powers that be.

There is certainly reason to raise an eyebrow or two at the thought of him having an official platform within the NBPA.

It is likely that Perkins is not the only one with serious concerns. Nonetheless, we’ll see how Kyrie’s reign will go. For all the noise he makes, he seems to have knowledge about the things going on around him and a serious passion for making the lives of players easier.

It’ll be interesting to see how he does.
