With Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, most fans and experts are happy to give the Warriors the benefit of the doubt. Even after losing in the Western Conference Semis this past season, believers are still picking them as one of the favorites to come out of the West in 2024.

Interestingly, however, not everyone is sold on the idea that the Warriors can continue being the dominant team we’ve seen them be for years. As Kendrick Perkins said on NBA Today, the only reason they have a chance at all is because of Curry.

“Read my lips, I give them a one percent chance and it’s not because of the addition of Chris Paul… there’s four teams in the Western Conference that I have ahead of them: the Nuggets, Lakers, Sacramento Kings, and the Phoenix Suns. That’s why I give them a one percent chance.”

The Warriors still have the same core that got them four championships, but the supporting cast isn’t nearly as proven. Last season guys they depended on, like Jordan Poole and Jonathan Kiminga, failed to deliver on expectations and they haven’t done anything to change that besides trading for Chris Paul.

Can CP3 Revive Dub Nation?

After winning the title just two years ago, it’s clear that the Warriors still have some life left in them and they can capitalize on it with enough help. Chris Paul, even at 38 years old, can help keep them stable when Curry is off the floor and may help open up the game for their younger guys and the veterans off the bench.

“For us, it’s about trying to make the pieces fit a little bit better,” said Curry. “Try to give us more versatility on both sides of the ball. And we understand our core is back. Adding CP and some other vets will really help us fill out that rotation and increase our depth. Our team makes a lot more sense this year.”

Only time will tell how Paul fits in with his new teammates, but the Warriors do not plan on going out quietly. Even now, years after the height of their run, the Warriors are in it to win and they will not stop fighting until it’s over.
