Coming to the Golden State Warriors, there was a lot of uncertainty about how Andrew Wiggins would fit into the team. Well now, it seems like he was the only missing piece in the puzzle. He has improved the level of skills and on top of that he has become quite consistent.

This has led to Wiggins not only becoming one of the best two-way players in the league but also getting selected as an NBA All-Star game starter. There were many supporters who wished to see Wiggins don an All-Star jersey and finally that wish has been fulfilled.

While most have started to praise Andrew after his amazing 2021-22 NBA season, there was one person who predicted how well the Warriors forward could play around two years ago.

Yes, we are talking about the claim that NBA analyst Kenny Smith made back in 2020. At the time, it felt like a pipedream but Wiggins has proved his talent.

Via NBC Sports:

“I think he’s gonna make the All-Star team next year. He could be that good. He does everything that Harrison Barnes was doing (when he played for the Warriors), and he’s more athletic.”

When TNT’s Kenny Smith made this declaration, it felt like something that wouldn’t be possible, at least in the near future. But Wiggins has slammed his critics this season with his performances on the court.

So much so that even his former teammate Karl-Anthony Towns had nothing but praise for him. Speaking of Wiggins’ numbers this season, he is currently averaging 18.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. Moreover, he has been shooting 48.3% from the field and 41.2% from the 3-point line.

It has been a dream season for the Warriors forward as he has proved to be a crucial player for the Dubs in their quest to win the 2022 NBA Championship.

Additionally, after a rough few weeks, it feels like the Warriors are also back on track. They have won their last 4 games and have improved their record to 36-13. That’s enough for them to hold the second seed in the Western Conference.
