For months, people have speculated that Giannis Antetokounmpo could leave the Milwaukee Bucks if they didn’t make it to the NBA Finals this season. And now that their campaign came to an early end as they lost to the Miami Heat in the second round, he was quick to shut that narrative down:

“It’s not happening. That’s not happening. Some see a wall and go in [another direction]. I plow through it. We just have to get better as a team, individually and get right back at it next season,” Giannis said following his team’s elimination.

Then again, Tom Haberstroh of NBC Sports isn’t sold on Giannis’ words, as he recently reminded us all that Kevin Durant and LeBron James also lauded their teams right before leaving. However, he still believes it’s a long shot that he’ll end up with the Warriors:

“That’s not what you want to hear if you’re the Golden State Warriors or any NBA team with any sort of hopes of prying Giannis out of Milwaukee,” he said. “However, I will remind people that Kevin Durant and LeBron James both said very nice things about Oklahoma City, Cleveland, and Miami respectively before each of those players walked out the door. Do not shut the door on Giannis leaving Milwaukee, but I would say it’s still a long shot for the Golden State Warriors,” Haberstroh said, as quoted by Yahoo! Sports.

the Warriors have enough assets in their power to at least make the Milwaukee Bucks listen to their offer. Nevertheless, they still need some kind of commitment from Giannis to not risk it all on a one-year rental.

As of today, it seems like the Greek Freak is more than happy at Wisconsin and won’t pursue a Championship elsewhere but who knows.
