Kevin Durant Calls Out Stephen A. Smith, Skip Bayless, And Shannon Sharpe: "My Theory Is That Guys Like Steve, Skip, And Shannon Have Changed The Game For The Worse."
The world of basketball revolves around the players and their exploits on the court. Still, the fans are often interested in more than that, filling their time with debate shows and other media content after the actual games are over. The world of NBA media has some personalities as colorful as the players themselves. Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless, for example, have turned themselves into household names with their opinions and debates about the NBA.
The takes that these talking heads can have are sometimes a bit over the top, and when it comes to individual players, it's no surprise that they can end up irritating the men that are being talked about. While a lot of players ignore this commentary for the most part, sometimes some give it back. Kevin Durant, being as active on social media as he is, happens to be one of those.
There was a recent show when Stephen A. Smith claimed that Michael Jordan had impacted the game negatively, while Chris 'Mad Dog' Russo had something similar to say about Stephen Curry. Well, Durant took the clip as an opportunity to sound off on Smith and other talking heads instead, calling them out on Twitter:
"My theory is that guys like steve, skip and Shannon have changed the game for the worse. Playas like Stephen and Michael can only push the game forward."
There is an argument to be made that the sports debate format has given rise to some dangerous narratives when it comes to players' accomplishments, but all of it is quite debatable from both ends of the spectrum.
Skip Bayless, Stephen A. Smith, and Shannon Sharpe are not ones to stay silent about something like this KD calling them out gives them something to talk about next, so a reply can be expected soon. With the offseason close to starting, it wouldn't be surprising if the drama only escalates in the coming months.
