Kevin Durant Claims The 2012 USA Dream Team Is The ‘Best Team Ever’

3 Min Read

Kevin Durant is a player with strong opinions no matter what the topic is. The Brooklyn Nets superstar is always firm in his beliefs regardless of who disagrees with them. Whenever he logs into Twitter, you know something interesting is about to happen, as KD almost always delivers a good comment against fans, analysts, and even other players.

Earlier today, the 2x NBA champion reacted to a video shared by Boardroom commemorating the 10-year anniversary of the 2012 Team USA winning the gold medal in the London Summer Olympics. After the 2008 Redemption Team won it all, the 2012 squad confirmed that the US was unbeatable in international basketball.

KD shone in the final game, dropping 30 on Spain to secure his team’s win. In a now-deleted tweet, Durant joked by saying he didn’t want to say that was the best team ever, only to make that statement in the next sentence.

Kevin Durant 2012 USA Team tweet

“Outta respect for the sport I won’t say this was the best team ever but s**t, this was the best… nevermind,” the player tweeted.

It’s unclear why he decided to remove the tweet, as many people agree with him. That 2012 USA Team was marvelous. They had a lot of talent, and great leaders like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Carmelo Anthony, while players like Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, and others tried to leave their mark on the competition.

Spain put up a good fight against them in the final game, but things went in Team USA’s favor in the end. Some might and will say that the 1992 Dream Team is the best of all time, but KD’s squad also has a good case for that title.

Either way, the only certain thing is that Team USA has dominated basketball, and whenever they’ve been hurt thanks to painful defeats, they bounced back and proved why they’re the best. KD was part of the team that got revenge in Tokyo last year after a terrible performance in the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

We don’t know if we’ll see another talented team like the 2012 squad, and it’s good that those who represented the country that year remind people that they had something magical in London.
