Kevin Durant put on a masterclass against the Detroit Pistons with his 41-point performance to help the Brooklyn Nets win the game 123-130. However, it had to be frustrating for the Nets to see their struggles on defense continue through this game, as they relied on their ability to outscore to win the game against the 14th seed in the East.
Due to the Pistons being one of the worst teams in the NBA this season, a reporter asked Durant about his frustrations over letting ‘a team like Detroit’ score 123 points on the Nets. KD was quick to shut the disrespect toward the Pistons down.
“What do you mean by a team like Detroit? They’ve been playing solid the last two weeks though. I know their record isn’t good, but they still got pros over there. Tonight they made sure, they started the game off by making six threes in the first quarter. They give you a lot of confidence as a team, and it is good for us to go through periods like that because there is going to be times in the playoffs when teams get hot unexpectedly. It’s a good test for us. No matter if we are playing the Pistons or the Milwaukee Bucks. We got better from it and we evolved as the game goes on, regardless of the opponent.”

The Pistons have shown a lot of progress in the last few weeks, with Cade Cunningham trying to establish himself as the rookie of the year. However, the reality is that the Pistons aren’t a team expecting to compete at the level of the Brooklyn Nets that have championship aspirations.
Detroit played very well against Brooklyn, which is why they got 123 points on them. At the end of the day, the Nets still won and they can focus on adding wins to continue their push for the 6th seed.
