Just days after Kyrie Irving picked up his player option for the 2022/23 NBA season, the Brooklyn Nets are getting bad news again. This time, their best player is trying to force his way out of the team after only two seasons at Barclays Center.

A lot of people wondered what Kevin Durant would do knowing how tense the situation was between the team and Kyrie Irving. After Ky opted-in his $37 million deal for the next season, many thought that KD would stay calm and embrace another season in Brooklyn, but things are different now.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Kevin Durant has requested the Nets a trade and the team is now working to get a trade partner for him.

Brooklyn Nets GM Sean Marks is working with Kevin Durant and his business manager Rich Kleiman on finding a trade for the franchise star, Kleiman tells ESPN.

Durant requested a trade with the team today, sources tell ESPN.

The market for KD will be huge after all the buzz suggesting that this would happen if Kyrie left the franchise. Now Irving is set to stay in Brooklyn for at least one more year, but Durant is the one leaving now.

In prior days, the Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers were linked with a move for the 2x NBA champion. Damian Lillard even tried to recruit KD on Instagram, posting a picture of himself with Durant wearing a Portland jersey.

The Heat, on the other side, were waiting for KD to ask for a trade to make their move. This is the right time to do so, as Durant is changing teams for the third time in his career. The package for him must be huge, as he’s one of the top 5 players in the league right now. We haven’t started free agency yet and things are already going crazy.
