The Brooklyn Nets have been without Kyrie Irving for a number of games now, as the point guard has been serving a suspension from the team. That was due to his posting an anti-Semitic movie on his Twitter page.

Recently, it was revealed that Kyrie Irving would be returning to the Brooklyn Nets lineup on Sunday against the Memphis Grizzlies. This will definitely give the team a welcome boost, as they have desperately missed his offensive talent.

Kevin Durant has recently spoken about Kyrie Irving’s return to the team, claiming that “it’s exciting for everybody” on the team. He also claimed that Kyrie Irving would provide the team with a “much-needed spark.”

“It’s exciting for everybody. I mean, we miss Ky, we miss his presence out there on the floor… Definitely will give us a much needed spark.”

Though Kevin Durant is obviously a fantastic player, there is no player that wins without help. This season, the Brooklyn Nets have surrounded Kevin Durant with solid role players, but without Kyrie Irving, the team simply hasn’t been that good.

Hopefully, we see Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving do well this year, and they definitely have a chance of making it back to the playoffs if Kyrie Irving is able to play the majority of the rest of the season.

Kevin Durant Previously Called Out The Brooklyn Nets’ Starting Lineup

Recently, Kevin Durant has called out the Brooklyn Nets’ starting lineup, rhetorically asking what everyone was “expecting from that group.” There is no doubt that Kevin Durant isn’t particularly high on the team’s starting five without Kyrie Irving.

“Look at our starting lineup. Edmond Sumner, Royce O’Neale, Joe Harris, [Nic] Claxton and me. It’s not disrespect, but what are you expecting from that group? Durant asked B/R. “You expect us to win because I’m out there. So if you’re watching from that lens, you’re expecting us to play well because No. 7 is out there.

“I’m really having a good time. I wish y’all could hear me talk during the game. If I got mic’d up more, people would stop asking me if I’m happy or not. I’m enjoying every moment I get to step on this f–king court, and part of it is because I tore my Achilles. And the pandemic, I didn’t know if we were going to play again. I didn’t know if I was going to play again.

“I was just like, ‘This can’t be it for me.’ I have to really enjoy every single moment I’m out here. That’s part of being a pro. I have to be coachable, I have to knock down shots, I have to be aggressive, and I have to talk to my teammates the right way. That’s the journey and the battle.”

Hopefully, Kyrie Irving will be able to help the Brooklyn Nets improve, and give Kevin Durant a championship-caliber No. 2 option. He is an extremely talented player, but he has to be able to stay on the court to have an impact.

The Brooklyn Nets could still end up being a solid team this year, as Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are an elite duo. Though they have failed to win a championship during their time in Brooklyn, perhaps they can still go on a deep run this year.
