Kevin Durant and his Phoenix Suns are ready to start the 2023 NBA Playoffs against a very difficult rival, the Los Angeles Clippers. This duel will have many storylines, including KD facing off against former teammate Russell Westbrook.

There’s no beef between them anymore, but Durant expects Westbrook to give his all to try to beat the inspired Suns.

“I think Russ is competitive against any player he plays against,” Durant told reporters. “I don’t think it was just specific to me. I think a lot of the fans and the people that were watching, it was high-intensity for them, it was entertainment for them. So for us players, it’s just another game, it’s regularly scheduled programming, but Russ is that way. I’ve played with him for so long and watched him for so long, he was that way against everybody. So I don’t expect anything different.”

The new-look Suns are having a terrific time with Durant on the court, finishing the regular season with an 8-0 record when the 2x NBA champion played. Now, the challenge is bigger, as the Clippers also finished the season on a high note, and they aren’t planning to stop soon.

Winning a championship with the Phoenix Suns will change the narrative for KD, who recently fired back at those who insist on calling him ‘sensitive.’ He has stated that legacy isn’t important for him anymore, but adding a championship to his resume, this campaign would do wonders for him. The first obstacle on the way to the championship is the Clippers, and they will make things very hard for KD and Co.

Russell Westbrook Talks About Facing Kevin Durant For The First Time In The Playoffs

On the other hand, Russell Westbrook made it clear he has no beef with Durant whatsoever, and he’s just ready to compete and help his team reach the second round of the NBA playoffs.

After a tumultuous season and a half with the Los Angeles Lakers, Russ found his place in the league on the Clippers, and he’s ready to help them beat the Suns, especially now that Paul George is inactive.

This has everything to be the best series of the first round of the playoffs, as these two teams carry big pressure, and their superstars know it’s now or never to win it all.
