Kevin Durant showed that he was one of the best players in the world during the playoffs, with a very good argument for being the best. Durant has done all that after recovering from an Achilles injury and considering that factor, Kevin Durant has had an outstanding individual year, even if the Brooklyn Nets didn’t win the championship.

This upcoming 2021-22 season could have been the last on Kevin Durant’s contract, as he had a player option for the 2022-23 season, meaning he could have opted out to become a free agent at the end of next season. However, it seems as though Kevin Durant will be staying in Brooklyn.

Adrian Wojnarowski recently reported that Kevin Durant plans to sign a four-year $198 million extension with the Brooklyn Nets, and it looks as though he is willing to commit to the franchise for the long term. The article by Shlomo Sprung on Boardroom contained more details on the deal.

Two years after joining the Brooklyn Nets, 11-time NBA All-Star forward Kevin Durant has agreed to sign a four-year contract extension with the team worth $198 million on Friday, Durant’s longtime manager Rich Kleiman confirms.

Following the 2020-21 season, Durant had received $306,172,746 in total career earnings from his NBA contracts, which ranks No. 5 on the all-time list. The 32-year-old’s new deal in Brooklyn will take him above half a billion dollars earned on the court.

His re-signing continues a strong Nets offseason that includes retaining forward Blake Griffin and guard Bruce Brown, signing guard Patty Mills and forward James Johnson, and drafting guard Cameron Thomas and center Day’Ron Sharpe.

It is clear that Kevin Durant believes that staying with the Brooklyn Nets is the right choice, and they are once again one of the favorites to win the championship next season. Of course, nothing is guaranteed, but with Kevin Durant, the Brooklyn Nets always have a good chance to win it all.
