Kevin Durant is one of the greatest scorers in the history of basketball, and there’s no doubt that he will retire as one of the best small forwards to have ever played the game of basketball.

Recently though, Kevin Durant has been the target of a lot of disrespect from Golden State Warriors fans. The Warriors have just won another NBA championship, and a lot of fans have stated their belief that the Warriors never needed Kevin Durant to win rings.

One fan claimed that Kevin Durant’s legacy “died”, and added that he will be known as “the guy between Harrison Barnes and Andrew Wiggins”. Kevin Durant responded to the Tweet, claiming that he has “been dead since July 4th, 2016”, obviously referring to the date he made his infamous decision to sign with the Golden State Warriors.

I been dead since July 4th 2016, but congrats to the dubs and my boy Steezy, a Fillmore legend, man been waitin his whole life for a parade on market st. https://t.co/LXtyvu7BwB

I been dead since July 4th 2016, but congrats to the dubs and my boy Steezy, a Fillmore legend, man been waitin his whole life for a parade on market st.

It was noted previously that Kevin Durant didn’t congratulate the Golden State Warriors on social media after their win. He does do so here, and it’s good to see him show some love to his former team.

Kevin Durant will look to win the championship with the Brooklyn Nets next season. They have a lot of star power on their roster, and a core featuring Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons is more than enough talent to win the championship. A variety of factors prevented the Brooklyn Nets from being a top-tier team this season, but they should be ready to go for next year.

Hopefully, we see Kevin Durant win a championship without the Warriors in the future. That would do a lot to silence his detractors, but at the same time, Kevin Durant’s status in basketball history is solidified, and he has nothing to prove to anyone.
