Dillon Brooks is known around the league for being a harsh trash-talker and extreme antagonizer, but Kevin Durant doesn’t take issue with how he plays the game.

In fact, as he revealed on ‘The ETCs’ podcast, Durant has respect for the Grizzlies swingman — who is apparently unlike the rest who try to portray the “tough guy” act.

“We’ve seen so many players in the history of the game that we all love for doing the same stuff… I can respect that he’s bringing that energy to the game every time he plays. It’s not no front with him.”

Dillon Brooks gets a lot of hate for his fiery quotes and ultra-aggressive playstyle, but there’s a reason he continues to play such a huge role for the Grizzlies. Besides being an elite perimeter defender, he is the heart and soul of a Grizzlies team known for being loud and rowdy.

The question is, are the Grizzlies ready to take the next step as true contenders, or do they need more time to mature before seizing control of the West?

The Grizzlies Should Not Be Counted Out

It’s no secret that Memphis has been hit with a number of issues this season, ranging from injuries and suspensions to an entire scandal involving their star player, Ja Morant. Through it all, the Grizzlies have been pretty up-and-down, showing some flashes of brilliance here and there.

Most importantly, however, Morant is back on the team and ready to make amends for his mistakes this year. Between him, Dillon Brooks, Desmond Bane, and others, the Grizzlies can still make a lot of noise in the West.

If not, then don’t be surprised to see them make a major move this summer.

“They have all their flexibility moving forward… They have like five first round picks to play with, and those are the picks they put on the table in any deal for Kevin Durant when they enquired on him during the summer,” reported Shams Charania on Memphis. “They can really go get a star player out there in the market place or whenever that guy becomes available. The question’s gonna be internally whether they want to continue to do it in-house, homegrown talent, or do you want to go out and use your assets.”

We will see soon enough how this season goes for the Grizzlies but don’t think they won’t be a problem in the West for years to come. If they can continue building around Morant and add more talent to an already deep roster, it could be enough put finally put them over the edge and give them something to brag about.
