The new year started on an ominous note for the Brooklyn Nets, with Kevin Durant going down thanks to an MCL injury just 10 days into 2023. The Slim Reaper was on a mission and looked like an MVP candidate, but with an injury like that, he was always due to miss about a month of action. The Nets have been a mixed bag without him, although they have notched a few impressive victories as well.

While his presence on the court makes it tough to play the Nets, any true basketball fan is wishing that Kevin Durant gets back as fast as possible. His game is exceptional, which means that if he’s not playing, then it’s the fans that are losing out. But no one feels the frustration more than KD himself, he might be the biggest fan of the game in the world.

Kevin Durant Spoke Honestly About His Plans To Return From Injury

As was expected, Kevin Durant was named as a starter in the All-Star Game in the Eastern Conference frontcourt. But his injury had put into doubt if KD would be able to play the showcase event. He has missed it in the past a few times because of ill-timed injuries, but the game is always better for having him in it. And Durant wants to be there as well, and be in good shape for it, revealing when he would like to return to the court on the ETCs podcast.

“More so than just the All-Star break, I just want to play games. I want to play as many games as possible, and I feel like the All-Star Game is a part of the season, so I want to be a part of everything throughout the year. I hate being injured, I hate not being out there with the guys, I hate not traveling. All that stuff means a lot to me.

“I would love to, but that would be a nice target point for me — a few games before [All-Star break], get my legs under me, and then slide in.”

February has begun and the All-Star Game is a mere 18 days away. If Kevin Durant would like to be back a few games before then, then a return against the Chicago Bulls on the 10th or the Philadelphia 76ers on the 12th might be what he is targeting. The Brooklyn Nets will play the Sixers, Knicks, and Heat in their 3 games before the game, and all would be a lot more exciting if KD was able to participate.
