The current off-season has seen some of the league’s biggest superstars get paid a fortune. Though, the world is still recovering from the recession due to the pandemic COVID19. It seems like a regular year for some NBA superstars who are making big bucks.

The NBA is a player-dominant league, where power solely rests within their hands, especially if you’re a superstar. In the past, we’ve seen players push their way out of a particular organization if they feel they have a better opportunity to win somewhere else.

In the current off-season players, like Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and Joel Embiid have signed major contracts that keep them secured for almost half a decade.

The 3x NBA champion Steph Curry recently signed a 4 year $215M extension with the Warriors, becoming the first player in NBA history to sign two $200M contracts. In the upcoming 2021-22 season, the 2x MVP will earn a base salary of $45M.

Steph Curry’s former teammate, Kevin Durant recently, signed a 4-year extension worth $198M with the Brooklyn Nets.

Recently, 27-year-old Joel Embiid agreed to a 4 year $196M deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. The extension guarantees him a total of $261M.

According to Ira Winderman, “With Joel Embiid’s extension, and the ones recently signed by Steph Curry and Kevin Durant, we have reached the point where elite NBA players are being signed to deals that eventually will hover around $700,000 per game. Per game. Played or not played. Load managed or not.”

There is no doubt that these superstars deserve all the money they are getting. However, a certain section of the media feels, with the huge sum guaranteed to them. The players wouldn’t take every game seriously especially, during the regular season

In recent times, we’ve heard the new name “Load Management” being used often as a reason for players sitting out. NBA fans pay their hard-earned money to watch these big names perform. Thus it is unfair for them to go without watching their favorite superstars play.
