Kevin Garnett was hyped after Karl-Anthony Towns made some big shots in Game 4. During his watch-along with Paul Pierce, Matt Barnes, and Stephen Jackson, Garnett joked about how KAT was right to talk about taking 1500 shots a day. He then joked that sometimes, taking just 300 shots can feel like taking 1500, in a truly funny moment (0:20 onwards).

“1500 a day is right. They shouted ‘Cap’ at him! Look, talk your sh*t. If it’s 1500, then it’s 1500. 300 sometimes feels like 1500. I get it…”

Karl-Anthony Towns had a solid game last night, putting up his best performance in this series so far. He put up 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist. Towns shot the ball really well, going 9-13 from the field, and 4-5 from the three-point line. He shot 69% from the field, and 80% from the three-point line.

It was a great team performance from the Timberwolves, who had looked tired in previous games against the Mavericks. Kevin Garnett recently explained why the Timberwolves were looking fatigued in the playoffs, and explained how Michael Jordan and other greats of the game adjusted to the grind of the playoffs.

While Towns did eventually foul out of the game, he still had a massive impact on the game. His efficient scoring played a big role in the Timberwolves avoiding a sweep and winning Game 4. KAT will have to continue playing like this if the Timberwolves want to overcome the odds and somehow push this series to seven games.

Karl-Anthony Towns Is Key To The Timberwolves Success

Karl-Anthony Towns’ importance to the Timberwolves cannot go understated. While Anthony Edwards has drawn much of the attention from players and fans as the leader and best player on the Timberwolves, Towns has played an integral role in the team’s success during these playoffs, and his performances have shown just how good he can be as a playoff performer.

Kevin Garnett spoke about Karl-Anthony Towns and his partnership with Anthony Edwards. KG said that Edwards was too big a personality to be the second option, and explained how the two stars can coexist by stepping forward.

“[Anthony Edwards] has too big of a personality to be Robin. He’s too big of a personality. It’s time for them to come together and become one. It ain’t about stepping back, it’s about both stepping forward together. They are the faces of the franchise.”

Karl-Anthony Towns averaged 18.6 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 7 games against the Denver Nuggets. However, his numbers have taken a significant hit in the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks. In the four games so far, KAT has averaged 17.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, with him shooting just 36% from the field, and just 26% from the three-point line.

The Timberwolves cannot just rely on Edwards and Towns but need the whole roster to deliver. However, it helps when your two best players are leading the charge. The Timberwolves are one loss away from being eliminated and have to somehow stay perfect for the rest of the series if they want to reach the NBA Finals this year.
