Jordan Poole may be one of the biggest disappointments of the season so far. He was expected to blossom into a No. 1 option on the Wizards but has been playing really ugly basketball and struggling. Kevin Garnett hates what he’s saying, tearing into Poole on his podcast with Paul Pierce and saying Poole doesn’t deserve to be in the NBA.

“This is what you learned in Golden State? Them n****s don’t act like professionals. They got your ass out of there because you couldn’t fall in line. N****s like this do not belong in the league. He doesn’t belong in the league as the head of a team. I don’t want my son with a n****a like that. You see how he talks to his teammates? ‘Shut up my n***a, this is my team, I got this.’ You can say whatever you want about me, I never disrespected the game and the position of being a leader.”

It’s just been a month into the season, but Poole has put together an impressive list of lowlights. Just last night he decided to roll the ball down the court with 3 minutes left in a 10-point game, completely oblivious that the game clock stops when only two minutes are left. This along with his ignoring of coaches in timeouts, playing hero-ball, hunting flashy plays, and not leading the team to any wins, has made him a complete pariah in the basketball world.

Even the Wizards are bracing themselves to possibly trade him away, which is a horrible sign for a player like Poole. If he can’t be the No. 1 option on a team like Washington, no team in the NBA will ever trust him in that role. Winning teams will stay away from him while he’s already looking bad on losing teams.

Jordan Poole Was Supposed To Have A Breakout Season

Poole’s performances this season have been downright bizarre. He’s averaging pathetic numbers, 17.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists this season. He averaged more coming off the bench for the Warriors, which shows he has inherent talent. But maybe he knew how to excel in his role with Golden State and is completely miscast as the primary scoring guard on the Wizards.

We have seen more players with Poole’s skill set find success in the NBA as career sixth man or scoring spark-plugs. It’s more likely he turns out to be a Lou Williams than James Harden, but people put too many expectations on him to repeat what Harden did when he was traded to Houston in 2011. Right now, Poole isn’t even looking like he could be Lou Williams because he’s honestly that awful to watch on the court.

I would usually say a trade could help find his mojo back, but he’s literally on a new team and hasn’t even played 20 games. This is a pretty glaring example of why all scorers around the NBA can’t be team leaders just because they put up gaudy numbers. Poole has an entire season to still turn this around, but this is a horrific start by him.
