Belief in Kevin Durant is strong for former NBA legend Kevin Garnett. Even so, it doesn’t excuse his team’s performance this season. Speaking on ‘KG Certified,’ the former Celtics big man laid into the Phoenix Suns and blamed their lack of proper team building as the reason for their current standings in the West,’
“You know how you’re not in? when your f*cking record says it,” said Garnett. “If y’all ain’t been three-manned up like it was built to be and then y’all went at the West, then we would have a real assess. But we can’t make that assessment with these guys being in and out… and you still ain’t got a f*cking point guard. That’s a major issue that nobody wants to address. You got three killers out here and they all got to figure out who bringing the ball up…. you got them thinking when they just wanna be out here gunning and reacting. “
Straight up – we need to appreciate KD while we can. @KevinGarnett5KG and @paulpierce34 sit back and reflect on one of the game’s greatest scorers of all-time in the new episode of Ticket & The Truth.

At just 39-28 this season, 7th in the West, the Suns have not matched expectations as a team with three superstars and a championship head coach. Since buying the team, new governor Matt Ishbia has given up a lot to build the best team possible but it hasn’t borne any fruit so far.
Arguably the biggest problem of all for the Suns is their lack of a true point guard, which Garnett is among many to recognize. After trading away Chris Paul in the Bradley Beak trade, Phoenix is missing a pure ball handler and playmaker in the backcourt and is having to rely on Booker, Beal, and Durant to fill that role.
Of course, health is also among the Suns’ biggest obstacles this season and the lack of playing time between the trio of teammates could prove to be their undoing in the end.
Kevin Durant’s Legacy Hangs In The Balance
At 35 years old, there is no doubt that Kevin Durant is on the tail end of his storied basketball career and the Suns may be the last chance for him to add to it before it’s all said and done. As a former MVP, 2x champion, 14x All-Star, and 10x All-NBA player, his legacy as one of the All-Time greats is already secure.
The only question now for Durant is if he can win another championship and finally prove to the world that he doesn’t need Stephen Curry to succeed. But since leaving the Warriors in 2019, his quest to capture another title has been nothing short of disastrous.
Starting with Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets, Durant achieved limited success there in what was a chaotic environment from the start. Over the course of multiple seasons, the Nets spiraled into disaster due to off-court controversies and it forced a mass exodus of everyone involved.
Now Durant is with the Suns, alongside Booker, in what may be one of his last chances to capture a ring. He’s been doing everything he can to get his team in a position to make some noise but without a point guard and an unreliable supporting cast, there’s only so much you can expect from Phoenix this season, especially compared to other top-flight contenders in the West.
Kevin Durant is the only reason they have a chance right now, and his presence alone is sure to invoke some fear into the competition this spring.
