Kevin Love recently talked about Kyrie Irving’s decision to not talk with reporters this NBA season. Kyrie has been slandered ever since he left the Cleveland Cavaliers for his ‘woke’ attitude and simply for the fact that he’s always speaking his mind. Irving is now ready to start a new season with the Brooklyn Nets but he’s not willing to talk with reporters this upcoming campaign.
After that, a lot of people reacted to Kyrie’s words and not a single person took that kindly. The NBA fined the player and the Nets with $25K, but that didn’t stop Kyrie. He shared an Instagram story with a stronger message, making it clear that he had no intention of talking with the press.
“I’ve had enough of someone else’s propaganda,” Irving wrote in an Instagram Story. “I’m for truth, no matter who tells it. I’m for justice, no matter who it’s for or against. I’m a human being first and foremost, and as such I am for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole.’
I pray that we utilize the ‘fine money’ for the marginalized communities in need, especially seeing where our world is presently. (I am) I am here for Peace, Love, and Greatness. So stop distracting me and my team, and appreciate the Art. We move differently over here. I do not talk to pawns, my attention is worth more.’”
Of course, this has become a big deal around the league and more people are reacting to it. Former teammate Kevin Love spoke out about Kyrie’s words and he simply called him a ‘big sign of disrespect.’
“I understand where Kyrie is coming from in trying to better a number of people’s lives, but I’m just not a divisive person, so that’s where I stand on that,” Love said, via Spencer Davies of Basketball News. “I love Kyrie. I know he’s changed, (don’t know) what’s going on, but again I’m just not a divisive person. I believe everybody has a part to play, so long as the intent’s there and it comes from a good place.”
Jason Lloyd of The Athletic revealed that Love has plenty of reasons to talk like this against Kyrie. They never were the best teammates in Cleveland and Love didn’t enjoy watching Kyrie being Kyrie while they played together. Lloyd revealed that teammates were tired of the player not talking to anybody during practice.
“Love and Irving were never particularly close during their time together. Most players on those Cavs teams grew tired of Irving’s stunts, such as not talking to anyone at practice. Love also had issues with the media but resolved them through his own personal mental health journey. Love is more comfortable being himself these days and isn’t afraid to speak out — even against a former teammate.”
Kyrie has been getting more and more enemies around the league in recent times. He’s not afraid of speaking his mind and that has earned him a lot of hate.
