Ashley Nicole Moss asked Kevin Love to name an all-time starting five that only featured players he’s played with. The lineup he constructed could win the 2024 NBA Championship.

“I’ll say Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, myself, LeBron James, and Bam Adebayo.”

Love also said that the team would have a record of 65-17, only hampered by load management and filling out the roster.

“I think the record is 65-17… We have to factor in games missed, the cap, so there are a lot of things that I have to consider within all that. You know, load management.”

Kevin Love has been in the NBA for a very long time, and the few times he’s been on a contender, he’s gone all the way. The four teammates he named, he has gone to the Finals with all of them, winning a title alongside LeBron James and Kyrie Irving

In his 16-year career, Love has made it to the playoffs only five times. However, all five times ended with him in the NBA Finals, so picking only teammates that enabled that success was the obvious choice.

Kevin Love’s Team Could Dominate The NBA

Love named arguably the four-best teammates he has had, and it turns out they could make a complementary starting five if they had to theoretically play together,

Kyrie Irving would be a dynamic point guard, capable of playing off the ball and being arguably the most potent offensive threat on this roster. This would lead to Jimmy Butler returning to a position he had played earlier in his career, forming the backcourt with Kyrie as a shooting guard. Butler would add solid two-way play and take on the responsibility of being the primary on-ball defender on this team.

LeBron James would be the small forward and the unquestioned leader of this team. James is the most gifted playmaker and would control the ball, given the proficient off-ball players around him. Kevin Love would be the perfect power forward to this group, adding a big rebounding threat who could stretch the floor as a role player on a star-led team.

Bam Adebayo would be the defensive anchor of the team. Though he is undersized, his mobility allows this group to rely on a heavy-switching defense which would be hard to break through. In addition, the offensive fluidity a lineup like this can provide is worth its weight in gold.

Depending on how Love would fill out an eight to nine-man rotation with four other teammates, this team would be a legitimate championship contender. Even if this was a starting five with only minimum contract players to fill the rest of the rotation out, they could legitimately find a way to make it through an 82-game season and be the biggest playoff threats by their starting five alone.
