Kevin Porter Jr. Reportedly Yelled “Modern-Day Slavery” At Cleveland Cavaliers GM After Locker-Room Outburst

Kevin Porter Jr. is making headlines once again and not precisely for the best reasons. The Cleveland Cavaliers player didn’t have any activity in the season and attended his first game of the campaign last Friday. That was the beginning and the end of his season with the Cleveland Cavaliers after a locker-room outburst prompted the team to start looking for trade partners for the young swingman.

Via USA Today:

The Cleveland Cavaliers are on the verge of trading or releasing 2019 first-round pick Kevin Porter Jr. after an outburst in the Cavs’ locker room on Friday, a person familiar with the details told USA TODAY Sports.

The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the situation.

According to the person, Porter became angry when he learned his locker space had been moved for Taurean Prince, who was acquired in the four-team blockbuster trade involving James Harden. Porter began yelling and throwing food, resulting in a confrontation with Cavs general manager Koby Altman.

That confrontation escalated really quickly and Porter Jr. found himself yelling “modern-day slavery” referring to the Cavaliers and their front office. Spencer Davies of BasketballNews reports that the player was livid with Altman, yelling those three words to describe his situation, his team and probably the league, too.

“The argument kept escalating and Porter was heard yelling about ‘modern-day slavery,’” Davies wrote. “Porter had grown frustrated recently because the team had been holding him out. He has yet to play in a game this season.

“‘He snapped on Koby, and Koby snapped back,’ the source told BasketballNews.com. ‘Ultimately, I think Koby being unable to calm him was the last straw that broke the camel’s back.’

“The source said that Porter is not allowed back at Cleveland Clinic Courts at the moment. The Cavaliers will try to find a trade for Porter, potentially packaging the second-year swingman with a big man.”

Porter’s career has been full of ups and downs. Back in October, he set the alarms for everybody in Cleveland after he shared a suicidal post on social media. One month later, he was arrested for driving with a loaded gun. This kid appeared to have a very good future in the league but his antics have made him lose that admiration.

He’s about to leave the Cavaliers but it’s unclear which team will actually land him after all these attitudes and issues he’s had.
