  • Klay Thompson can “relax a little bit” now and enjoy his time
  • The shooting guard is “grateful for it all”
  • Thompson noted that he will enjoy every day he has left in the league

Shooting guard Klay Thompson is clearly a legend for the Golden State Warriors, and there’s no doubt that his No. 11 jersey will be retired by the franchise. He is definitely entering the twilight years of his career now, as he is 33 years old and has had both an ACL and an Achilles injury.

Recently, Klay Thompson shared his positive mindset on the remaining years of his career. He noted that he will “enjoy every single day”, and noted that is what comes after “working your hardest” in the beginning stages of your career.

“What’s nice about working your hardest early in your career, you can relax a little bit more… I’m just grateful for it all… Now I realize I only got 4-5 years left in me, I’m gonna enjoy every single day.”

There is no doubt that this is a positive attitude. It is clear that Klay Thompson feels no pressure, and that can be liberating for a player. Hopefully, we see him have a good year next season with the Golden State Warriors.

This past season, Klay Thompson averaged 21.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists while shooting 41.2% from 3PT range. He can still be a contributor on a championship team, and we’ll see if he can help the Warriors win their fifth ring next year.

Klay Thompson Would Be Willing To Go Through His Injuries Again Because He Is Still Contending With The Warriors

There is no doubt that injuries are the worst part of basketball, and Klay Thompson has missed two whole seasons due to his injuries. However, Thompson claimed that he’d be willing to go through the injuries again, as he is still competing for titles with the Golden State Warriors.

“I’m lucky to still be going after five. I have no complaints, I’d do it all over again, injuries and all. I’m still together with the guys I came in with, Steph and Dray. Andre and Steve, it’s special.”

Hopefully, we see Klay Thompson remain healthy for the rest of his career. He is an elite 3PT shooter even now, and that is a skill that doesn’t necessarily rely on athleticism or burst. Thompson is clearly still effective, and perhaps he will have one of his best years a few years out from his serious injuries.
