The Golden State Warriors will have their original trio back for the first time in almost 2 years this season. Klay Thompson has spent 2 full seasons out with massive ACL and Achilles injuries respectively. But this season, he is expected to return and pair up with Steph Curry and Draymond Green once again.

Klay Thompson is looking forward to playing once again with Draymond Green and Steph Curry. In a recent interview with NBC Sport, Klay spoke about reuniting with his fellow Warriors stars. Going forward, he wants to play with them forever, and be like the San Antonio Spurs of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili.

“It’s pretty cool. It’s rare to have continuity like that in pro sports, so I don’t take it for granted. It inspires me to — we got to get one more [championship], maybe two. We got to. Like the modern-day Spurs, you know? Manu [Ginóbili], Tony [Parker], and Tim [Duncan] played with each other their whole careers and I would like to do the same with Steph and Dray.”

With the trio, the Golden State Warriors embarked on a dynasty, as they won 3 NBA championships and reached 5 consecutive NBA Finals between 2015 and 2019. The Warriors were incredible and will go down as one of the greatest teams of all time.

The Warriors were bolstered with the arrival of Kevin Durant. But Klay, Steph, and Draymond were huge parts of their team and helped the Dubs dominate the rest of the NBA. Very few trios had the kind of chemistry that Thompson, Draymond, and Curry.

But there are some questions about how Klay will click with the rest of the team when he returns. After two massive injuries in consecutive years, Klay may struggle to get himself back into the Warriors. But many people argue that Thompson’s game relies on skill and not athleticism, which means the injuries wouldn’t affect him as much.
