The New York Knicks have surpassed all expectations this season as they took a 3-1 lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first-round matchup.
After a stunning Game 4 win, Knicks fans made sure to taunt Donovan Mitchell, who was linked to the team this past summer.
“Yo, Spidey! Don’t you wish you came to the Knicks?!”

During the playoffs, NBA fans have a tendency to show an extreme level of emotion. Considering the Knicks have been stuck in mediocrity for years, it’s understandable that they are over the moon after taking a 3-1 lead over the Cavaliers.
But the job is not over for them. They still have to win another game to seal the series and advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Donovan Mitchell Thought He Was Getting Traded To The New York Knicks
After spending five seasons with the Utah Jazz and not getting enough success in the postseason, Donovan Mitchell began the new chapter of his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In his first season with the Cavs, he led them to a 51-31 record and clinched the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. But prior to getting traded to the Cavaliers, Mitchell was expected to become a member of the New York Knicks.
So much so that Mitchell himself revealed that he thought his move to the Knicks was a done deal. However, the Jazz traded him to the Cavs instead.
“I was told it was RJ and hella picks. That’s what I heard. And I thought that was happening. I thought that was it. I’m there all offseason. I’m there in the summer. So that’s why I thought, ‘All right, this is gonna be a long haul in Cleveland’ But when I found out those guys were, it was like, ‘All right, we can really do something. Like, we really could do something.’ Nothing to slight the guys that were involved in the deal going to Utah. But for me, it was just like, ‘We have the talent.’ I said it at the press conference: Our talent is scary, but we’ve got to go out there and do.”
Although Mitchell thought he was going to become a Knicks player, he had no complaints after getting traded to the Cavs.
But most Knicks fans had already imagined him as a member of the Knicks. Since that deal fell off, the fans are still salty about it. As a result, they will not let go of any chances to taunt Mitchell in the opening-round series in the 2023 NBA playoffs between the Knicks and the Cavaliers.
