Kristaps Porzingis On Playing In New York: “I Miss The City. I Miss This Place… Every Time I Come Back It’s Special.”

Kristaps Porzingis is currently part of high octane offense in Dallas with the Mavericks. However, the Mavericks aren’t his first team: prior to moving to Dallas, he was the face of the franchise for the New York Knicks. Kristaps Porzingis garnered an All-Star selection in New York and was widely considered to be the future of New York basketball.

While Kristaps Porzingis did end up leaving New York via trade, it still seems like he has fond feelings about the city. Recently, when speaking to Steve Popper, Kristaps Porzingis has opened up on his feelings playing in New York ahead of the Knicks-Mavericks matchup that’s coming on April 2.

Kristaps returns to NY tomorrow: "I miss the city. I miss this place. A lot of great memories. Every time I come back it’s special. A lot of people here still recognize me and show me love and support. It’s always good to come back."

Sometimes players leave the franchise they are drafted to. There are times where it’s almost inevitable. But that doesn’t mean that they have to have a negative relationship with the fans when they leave. While there are some hardcore fans that hate any player that leaves their team, it does seem like Porzingis still gets a lot of love from New York. Returning to your original franchise is always a little special, and it is no different for Kristaps Porzingis. It is good to see that Kristaps Porzingis is still supported by some New Yorkers, and hopefully, they will continue to do so throughout his career.
