Kyrie Irving is finally back to being a full-time player. It does not mean, however, that his decision has stopped being a topic of conversation.

Just recently, Washington’s Kyle Kuzma sparked debate after showing support for Irving. In a Tweet, he applauded the Nets guard for not backing down and sticking to his word about not getting the vaccine.

Number 1 thing I get out of the Kyrie/mandate situation (and everyone else should)… Being a man is being impeccable to your word.. we need more of that. And that should be highly respected

Irving made headlines ahead of the season when he refused to take the vaccine. Not only did it disqualify him from home games, but it also prevented him from playing any games at all for a while.

It wasn’t until later that the Nets agreed to let him join his teammates on the road.

Throughout the season, Uncle Drew has endured criticism from all corners of the country. Of course, he’s also had some support as well.

Amazingly, none of his teammates tried to get him to change his mind.

“I don’t get it. It just feels like, at this point now, somebody’s trying to make a statement or a point to flex their authority,” Kevin Durant said, in protest of New York City Mayor, Eric Adams. “Everybody out here looking for attention and that’s what I feel like the mayor wants right now. Some attention. But he’ll figure it out soon. He better.”

Despite all the noise, Irving has been brilliant on the basketball court since his return.  In 22 games, he’s averaging 27.1 points, 5.7 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game on 48% shooting.

While the Nets are just 39-36 on the season, they are poised to be a serious threat in the playoffs, especially now that Irving is better than ever.
