Kevin Durant is well-known as one of the best basketball players on the planet, and there’s no question that he is the face of the Brooklyn Nets. The forward’s shot creation ability is highly regarded, and many view him as one of the greatest scorers ever.

This year has been another great one for Kevin Durant, and he is currently putting up 29.6 PPG, 7.3 RPG, and 5.9 APG. Despite his individual brilliance, the Brooklyn Nets are only 8th in the Eastern Conference. Part of the reason for that is Kyrie Irving’s availability, as he is currently a part-time player that cannot play in home games due to local laws in NYC. Kevin Durant has previously sounded off on the situation, making a strong statement criticizing NYC mayor Eric Adams.

“I don’t get it. It just feels like, at this point now, somebody’s trying to make a statement or a point to flex their authority. Everybody out here looking for attention and that’s what I feel like the mayor wants right now. Some attention. But he’ll figure it out soon. He better.”

Kevin Durant has recently issued another statement to clarify the situation, stating that he appreciates “the task the Mayor has in front of him”, and adding that his “frustration with the situation” doesn’t change his involvement in the community.

“The last two years have been a difficult and painful time for New Yorkers, as well as a very confusing time with the changing landscape of the rules and mandates. I do appreciate the task the Mayor has in front of him with all the city has been through. My frustration with the situation doesn’t change the fact that I will always be committed to helping the communities and cities I live in, and play in.”

Kyrie Irving is a supremely talented basketball player, and hopefully, we get to see him suit up on a full-time basis in the near future. If not, then the Brooklyn Nets will have to continue to find ways to mitigate the impact of his absences.

The Brooklyn Nets are without a doubt a scary team when fully healthy. Newly acquired star Ben Simmons has not yet played for the team. Hopefully, the Nets get to see their full-strength roster in action prior to the postseason, and there’s no doubt that they have a lot of talent on the roster.
