It hasn’t taken Kyrie Irving all that long to shine in his new surroundings. In 4 games with the Dallas Mavericks, the star guard is averaging 28.3 PPG, 7.0 APG, and 4.8 RPG while shooting 53.3% from the field and 42.9% from beyond the arc.

Those are very impressive numbers and while it will take some time for him and Luka Doncic to be on the same wavelength, they should get there eventually. Kyrie is excited to play with Luka and seems happy in Dallas for now, but his future remains up in the air.

Kyrie’s stance can change at any moment as was seen in his previous pit stops, as he had promised to stay with the Cavaliers, Celtics, and Nets before suddenly leaving them. So, it isn’t a surprise that he has been asked about his long-term future with the Mavs, but Kyrie declined to answer those questions, stating that it is a distraction for the team.

NBA fans think his refusal to speak on the matter indicates he might be leaving after the season.

“That response alone gives the team reason to think Kyrie will leave”

“He knows he is going to either the Suns to get back with KD or the Lakers to get back with LeBron. He ain’t fooling nobody. The Mavs are desperate to pair a star with Luka so they did. Hoping it works this season and MAYBE Kyrie stays but we know his tendencies. He ain’t staying.”

“he’s definitely leaving “

“bro is gone in the offseason”

“Yep , that brother a laker”

“Everybody know he will sign with the Suns the next Season”

“He will sign with the Lakers this summer.”

“lmaoo they traded all that for a RENTAL “

“Laker for sure”

“We seen this script before”

“He definitely leaving “

“At least he’s not giving them false hope like the past 3 franchises he’s played for.”

“He’s a Laker nxt year”

“They’ll be wanting him gone in a few months anyway”

“Translation: ‘I’m outta here in a few months'”

“See you in LA next year with Bron Bron “

“FUTURE LAKER”

“It took 4 games “

“Son is def going to Phoenix “

“Kai a laker next season”

The Lakers were reported to be Kyrie’s preferred destination after he requested a trade from the Nets, but owner Joe Tsai didn’t want to send him there. That led to them asking for an insane trade package from the Lakers for Irving, which they were never going to agree on. The Phoenix Suns were involved in the Kyrie sweepstakes too and Brian Windhorst reported that Kyrie was interested in joining them as well, so he could join the Suns in free agency. It speaks to how talented he is, that teams are willing to take a chance on him despite all the issues.

Kyrie Irving Spoke On Why The Nets Big 3 Failed

When the Nets formed a Big 3 with Kyrie, Kevin Durant, and James Harden, they seemed unstoppable on paper, but basketball is ultimately played on the court. Unfortunately for the Nets, they only ever won 1 playoff series in that time and now, all 3 of them have left.

Irving stated that the reason why the Nets failed to deliver was injuries and that is fair to say. One can only wonder how differently that playoff series against the Bucks in 2021 would have panned out if Harden wasn’t struggling with an injury and if Kyrie didn’t miss the last 3 games. If everyone was healthy, they could have won it all and all 3 of them might have still been with the Nets today, as winning cures any and all problems.
