There are no doubts about the fact that the Brooklyn Nets started the 2022-23 NBA season on a rough note. The roster looked dysfunctional, and many expected them to have an underwhelming season. But over the last few weeks, the Nets have turned their season around.
The credit for this turnaround goes to none other than the dynamic duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. While KD has been having a great season from day 1, Irving has been in sensational form since returning from the suspension for his controversy over sharing a link to a movie featuring anti-Semitic disinformation.
Since Kai’s return, the Nets have a 12-3 record and have managed to win the last 9 out of their 10 games. The Brooklyn Nets registered their most recent win against the Detroit Pistons.
Kyrie Irving On Playing With Kevin Durant
The Irving-Durant duo was simply unguardable against the Pistons as they combined for 81 points to steer the Nets to a 124-121 win. Speaking of Durant, he recorded 43 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists while playing 36 minutes. There is no doubt that Durant should be among the frontrunners to win the MVP award this season.
Anyway, after the game, Kyrie was asked about his thoughts on Durant’s insane form and if he is still surprised by KD’s ability to win games for the Nets.
"I definitely don't take it for granted"

“I definitely don’t take it for granted. I definitely don’t take his talent and the amount of hard work that he puts into in not only his craft, but just his life and how he treats himself. I don’t take it for granted. We gotta enjoy the time while he is here, not just as a teammate but the whole entire world watching. And he’s impacted the world of sport completely, but when he’s doing performances like this on a consistent basis, you just can’t take it for granted.”
Both Durant and Irving share a mutual respect for each other. It’s obvious from their comments about each other. When Irving was suspended, Durant showed support for his teammate and wanted him to return as soon as possible to get a spark. Well, the Nets have gotten that spark and, so far, are making teams pay.
