Kyrie Irving Wants To Make Nets A “Championship-Level” Organization

2 Min Read

After a multi-week absence from the team, Kyrie Irving made his presence felt in his return to Brooklyn on Sunday night. Scoring 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, Irving shared a bit about his state of mind on his return and where he wants to lead his team going forward.

“The culture here is we want to be a championship-level organization, and we want to do that for the next few years of us competing, and when I’m done playing basketball that this culture here will still be consistent. That’s what I’m after. That’s a long-term goal,” Irving said, per Michael Scotto of Bleacher Report.

What he’s referring to is that famous “Championship culture” that alludes so many teams in the NBA.

It takes years of winning and a positive environment for a culture like that to set in. And for the Nets, who have a young and rather insignificant history, instilling that type of brand for them will be no easy task.

For Irving, his chance will come in the next few years, when he and Kevin Durant will have the chance to take this team to new heights. He wants to build something that will last, and this is just the beginning.
