Stephen Curry is arguably in for the toughest season of his career. Even though the 2020-21 Warriors missed the playoffs despite being a seventh seed, this year’s Warriors may struggle to climb that high in the standings.

The Warriors lost to the Suns last night to fall to 10-13, with reputed leaker LegendzNBA sharing clips from the game where Curry is yelling at his teammates for poor defense, even kicking down chairs on the bench.

“Help out! You gotta help. This is f***ing terrible. This is bulls**t. Can we please get a stop?”

Curry has every reason to be upset at what’s going on around him. He’s started the season playing at an incredibly high level, averaging 29.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists. However, he has had minimal support from his teammates.

Klay Thompson is having one of the worst seasons of his career, Draymond Green can’t help himself from getting suspended, Chris Paul is washed, and Andrew Wiggins looks like a shell of the player he used to be.

The Suns haven’t been particularly good this season either, so not being able to close them out is extremely concerning. The Warriors may not have enough on their roster to compete in a very tough Western Conference. With every loss, we come closer to the reality of some big changes being made.

Can The Warriors Salvage Their Season Without Draymond Green?

The NBA has confirmed that Draymond Green will be suspended indefinitely after punching Jusuf Nurkic during the Warriors’ loss. It was a bizarre moment that Green has tried explaining away by claiming he was trying to sell a call.

“He was pulling my hip and I was swinging away to sell the call and made contact with him. I’m not one to apologize for things I meant to do but I will apologize to Jusuf because I didn’t intend to hit him. I sell calls with my arms… I’m not a flopper. I was just selling the call because he was grabbing me and pulling my hip back.”

The reason seems disingenuous and the league can see through it, which is why the punishment is as harsh as it is. The team already looks emotionally fragile with Curry looking extremely frustrated, so losing Green is a big blow to this team. He is one of the only players that can be relied upon defensively, though this suspension may be a blessing in disguise, as Jonathan Kuminga can get an opportunity to prove to Golden State he should be one of their core pieces.

Climbing out of a 10-13 hole is not very hard, as the Warriors were three games below .500 at points last season as well but still finished with a top-six seed. The West looks far more competitive this season, so I think the Warriors will fail to break into the top six if Draymond misses a large chunk of the season due to the suspension.

We’re going to see the Warriors dynasty tested like they haven’t been tested before. If they make it to March without making any moves, they’ll likely fail to make the playoffs or be a first-round exit. That may be harsh to say about a team with Curry on it, but it looks like the reality if the likes of Thompson, Wiggins, Draymond, and CP3 can’t step up to support Curry.
